Cape Town - Australian batsman Mike Hussey was a welcome visitor at the Proteas' training session on Wednesday, along with former national opener and coach, Gary Kirsten.
Current Proteas coach Russell Domingo was eager to rope in "Mr Cricket" in a consultancy role to give insight into playing in Australian conditions.
Domingo said the 39-year-old Hussey was "a middle order batter of immense experience and knows conditions very well in Australia. He'll play a very low-key role in the background."
Kirsten, 47, has been a consultant to the Proteas on a regular basis since he stepped down as coach in 2013. Kirsten led India to Cricket World Cup victory in 2011.
Ironically, the Proteas' next World Cup match is against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday at 05:30 SA time.
