SA duo achieve career best

Cape Town - Dale Steyn (4th for bowling) and JP Duminy (15th for batting) have achieved career best rankings on the ICC Reliance Mobile ODI ratings following their outstanding performances in the Proteas’ opening World Cup victory against the West Indies.

The Proteas have also jumped one place in the team ratings to No. 3, overtaking Sri Lanka following the latter’s defeat to Pakistan.

The Proteas are now 1 point behind second-placed India who in turn trail log leaders Australia by 12.

Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers remain the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked batsmen but De Villiers no longer has to share his position with India’s Virat Kohli who has dropped down to No. 3.

Jacques Kallis (14th) and Duminy and Graeme Smith (joint 15th) are the other Proteas in the top 20.

The Proteas remain well ranked in the bowling with Morne Morkel at No. 2, just 6 points behind New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori.

Steyn is at No. 4, 2 points behind Zimbabwe’s Ray Price and 1 ahead of Australia’s Mitchell Johnson.

Lonwabo Tsotsobe remains in 10th place.

Kallis is ranked No. 4 among the top all-rounders.
