Kieron Pollard

2010-10-13 20:40

Full name: Kieron Adrian Pollard

Born: May 12, 1987, Tacarigua, Trinidad

Current age: 23 years

Major teams: West Indies, Mumbai Indians, Somerset, South Australia, Stanford Superstars, Trinidad, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies Under-19s

Playing role: All-rounder

Batting style: Right-hand bat

Bowling style: Right-arm medium-fast

Kieron Pollard is currently the West Indies best all-rounder (with the exception perhaps of Dwayne Bravo). A decent fast medium seamer, who can extract bounce out of most wickets and has had good success in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians, Pollard may well be a factor in the bowling stakes for his country.

But his real forte is his batting. As an indicator of his abilities, during the 2010 Airtel Champions League T20 competition, Pollard held the record for 5 of the 10 largest sixes during the tournament, including the number 1 spot with a 128-meter monster that left the ground with ease.

Although he only averages 19.42 in ODIs with the bat, he can play key innings at crucial times, making him a danger in the short forms. With the ball, his stats read well – 30 wickets at and average of 27.04 from his 30 matches – he's definitely the West Indian to watch in 2011.
