Leg-spinner to replace Bravo

Antigua and Barbuda - The West Indies have selected Guyanese leg spinner Devendra Bishoo to join the World Cup squad to replace injured all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Bishoo, 25, was the player of the tournament in the 2010 Caribbean Twenty20, and took another six wickets in the subsequent edition of the tournament in January.

He also took 10 wickets in the regional 50-over tournament last October.

Bishoo has played 20 first class matches, ten 50 over games and 13 T20s, and played for the West Indies A team v Pakistan A in 2010.

Bravo, the side's leading all rounder and talisman for the last four years, suffered a major injury to his left knee during the defeat against South Africa last Thursday.

He has been ruled out of the tournament, and is expected to be out of the game for a minimum of four weeks.

Bishoo's selection has yet to be approved by the International Cricket Council.
