Chittagong - England have applied for permission to bring Chris Tremlett into their Cricket World Cup squad to replace the injured Stuart Broad.

Tremlett had long been on standby as a reserve in case of injury but the International Cricket Council must approve the switch.

England have already drafted in Eoin Morgan to replace the injured Kevin Pietersen.

Broad dropped out of the tournament late on Tuesday because of a side strain.
