Cook, Prior lift England

Cape Town - England's Alastair Cook and Matt Prior staged a remarkable comeback as they guided their team to 340 for five at stumps, following-on, on the fourth day of the first Test against India in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Cook was undefeated on 168 and Prior had 84 as the pair avoided an innings defeat. When the players left the field, the visitors had a slender lead of 10 runs.

India made 521 for eight declared, before bowling England out for 191 in the first innings.
