Cobras name stellar squad

Cape Town - Western Cape Cricket has named a 24-man Cobras squad, with no less than 14 Proteas, for the 2013/14 domestic cricket season.

Veteran seam bowler Monde Zondeki had retired because of injury, the Cobras confirmed in a statement, while batsman Uwe Birkenstock and all-rounder Shaheen Khan had been drafted into the squad.

Cobras squad:

Allistair Gray, Beuran Hendricks, Justin Kemp, Charl Langeveldt, Richard Levi, Johann Louw, Justin Ontong (captain), Dane Piedt, Andrew Puttick, Siyabulela Simetu, Yaseen Vallie, Stiaan van Zyl, Dane Vilas, Lizaad Williams

Rookies: Uwe Birkenstock, Shaheen Khan

National players: Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn
