Majola congratulates Kings

csaJohannesburg - Gerald Majola, Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) CEO, on Sunday congratulated the Chennai Super Kings on winning the 2010 Airtel Champions League T20 by beating the Warriors at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg.

Majola said: “The Chennai Super Kings played high level cricket throughout the tournament and fully deserved this victory that has come on top of their 2010 DLF Indian Premier League title.

“All credit, though, must go to skipper Davy Jacobs and the Warriors who did South Africa proud by fighting well above their weight to reach the final.

“This excellent showing by the Warriors is a most positive indication of the success of CSA’s strength versus strength domestic franchise system which bodes well for the Proteas in this forthcoming ICC World Cup season.

“The tournament overall was a resounding success and it was good to see the three partners – South Africa, India and Australia – all having teams in the semi-finals.

“Many thanks must go to the South African public for coming out in big numbers to support this tournament which had a global audience.

“It proved once again that South Africa is an outstanding venue for high-profile international sports events,” Majola concluded.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
