Case against Modi grows

Mumbai - The Indian Premier League governing council says the league's suspended commissioner Lalit Modi committed "major irregularities" during his tenure as head of the profitable Twenty20 cricket league.

Council member Farooq Abdullah said on Friday that the body went through the IPL's affairs and was considering its options.

Abdullah said the council found "major irregularities that have been committed by the past chairperson and discussed what will be done, and how we would proceed further."

Modi has been suspended pending the investigation of alleged corruption related to the bidding for two IPL franchises, television broadcast deals and other matters.

He has denied any wrongdoing.
