Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday expressed its deep shock and sadness at the sudden passing of West Indies international cricketer, Runako Morton, as the result of a car accident.
Morton is well remembered in South Africa, having been part of the West Indies team that toured this country in 2007/08. He played in both the Test match series as well as the ODIs.
“We have been shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Runako Morton at the tragically young age of 34,” commented CSA acting president AK Khan. “It is particularly sad when a young man who has the talent to offer so much to his community is cut down in the prime of his life.
“We remember Runako well from the West Indies tour of South Africa in the 2007/08 season when he played in both the Test match and ODI series.
“On behalf of both myself and the entire Cricket South Africa family I convey my deepest sympathy to his family, friends and the entire West Indies cricket community.”
