Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa on Friday announced the appointment of former journalist, Altaaf Kazi, as the organisation’s new Communications and PR Manager.
Kazi will commence his duties on Monday, 18 June, 2012.
The 31-year-old will be responsible for the successful implementation of CSA’s media strategy and will also play a key role in stakeholder relations.
“We are really excited to have made this appointment,” said CSA Acting CEO Jacques Faul.
“Altaaf comes to CSA with great knowledge and insight as to how the sports media and journalism world operates and will be a key figure in assisting the organisation in restoring its public image.
“We have full confidence in his ability and look forward to seeing the relationship between CSA and the Media develop into a fruitful one,” added Faul.
Kazi also expressed his delight at the appointment.
“I’m really honoured to have been considered for this position. I’m passionate about cricket and will ensure that I provide a platform and environment for the media to thrive in and make the sport even more accessible,” explained Kazi.
Kazi comes to CSA on the back of a successful stint at the Premier Soccer League (PSL). He spent four-and-a-half years at the PSL in the capacity of General Manager: CRM, Press and PR.
Prior to his position at the PSL, he worked as a broadcast journalist for 9 years, enjoying stints at E-TV News, SABC News and SuperSport.
