CSA re-affirms board structures

Johannesburg - Cricket South Africa (CSA) re-affirmed the recommendations of its Steering Committee as well as the decisions adopted by the Board of Directors at its earlier meeting of August 11, at a gathering held in Magaliesburg over the weekend.

The indaba was attended by the presidents, CEOs and an additional executive member of all the affiliates and associate members, as well as other stakeholders.

The affiliates and associate members will now take the recommendations of the Steering Committee back to their own constituents before the decisions are ratified at the next meeting of the Board of Directors.

The recommended new structure of the board, to consist of five independent directors and five non-independent directors drawn from the CSA Members' Forum as well as the CEO, received particularly strong support from South African Cricketers' Association (SACA) CEO Tony Irish, presenting the view of the country's professional players.

CSA acting president Willie Basson said that the Proteas' had set excellent standards on the field of play and it was vital that the administration strived for the same standards.

"We must have the same principled, professional and strategic excellence both on and off the field," Basson said.
