Johannesburg - Willie Basson was elected acting president of Cricket SA (CSA) on Saturday until its annual general meeting in September.
Basson is a highly experienced cricket administrator and is currently chairman of the CSA Transformation Committee.
CSA's board of directors met in Johannesburg on Saturday to discuss the Nicholson report and its recommendations but it was also necessary to elect a new acting president, after AK Khan resigned from the position on Wednesday.
Khan and CSA audit and risk committee chairman John Blair resigned following the scathing report released last Friday which found the board had failed to take appropriate action against chief executive Gerald Majola for alleged financial misconduct.
Brand and corporate relations manager Kass Naidoo also resigned on Saturday.
Naidoo also benefited from the improperly-awarded bonuses after the staging of the Indian Premier League in 2009.
