Hamilton - Bangladesh were 87 for one at stumps on the second day of the only Test against New Zealand in Hamilton on Tuesday, trailing the hosts by 466 runs.
Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes started off in style for the visitors, bringing up the 50 inside 10 overs.
However, Imrul soon after fell to the guile of New Zealand's premier spinner, Danie Vettori, getting the edge to one that didn't turn to be caught in the slips for 28.
At the other end, Tamim was in destructive mood, taking boundaries at will from any bowler who happened to be slightly off-target.
Rain and bad light played their usual part in the latter stages of the day, but that did not distract Tamim as he brought up his fourth Test half-century.
At close, Tamim was unbeaten on 56 and Junaid Siddique had three.
Earlier, two big centuries from Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum enabled New Zealand to declare their first innings on 553 for seven before tea.
Resuming the day on 258/5, Guptill (on 80 overnight) brought up his maiden Test century with a cracking shot to the backward square boundary.
McCullum was soon to follow with his fourth ton, after which both batsmen played with more freedom and aggression, punishing anything slightly off line and length.
At lunch, the score had raced to 432/5, and even though the session was half-an-hour longer, a massive 174 runs were added in that period.
The scene did not change much after the break and both batsmen continued on their merry way, bringing up their 300-run partnership, but a few overs later, on his highest test score of 185, McCullum was bowled by a beautiful delivery from Rubel Hossain.
His innings came off 272 balls, and included 17 fours and three maximums.
As is so often the case, his partner Guptill, was soon so follow - his score on 189 off 310 balls - to become Rubel's fifth victim of the innings.
