Cape Town - Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) on Monday confirmed Victorian batsman Cameron White will remain with the Australian ODI squad as cover for Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh who are both suffering from injury.
White was due to fly back to Australia today after Sunday’s second and final Twenty20 match against South Africa but will now remain with the ODI squad indefinitely.
Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said:
“Shane Watson is recovering from a hip muscle strain which caused him to miss yesterday’s second Twenty20 match. He will continue with treatment and we will assess him over the next 24 hours before a decision is made on his availability for the first ODI game on Wednesday.
“Shaun Marsh injured his left shoulder when diving in the field during the second Twenty20 game yesterday at the Wanderers. He has undergone scans today in Johannesburg which have cleared him of any major damage and he will be assessed closer to the game on Wednesday.”
