Cape Town - JP Duminy scored a quick-fire 67 from 53 balls to enable South Africa to post 146-7 in their first T20 international against Australia at Newlands.

The South Africans got off to the worst possible start when former limited overs captain, Graeme Smith's woes continued when he was bowled for a duck with the score on 2.

Captain Hashim Amla soon followed Smith back to the pavilion when he was brilliantly run-out by David Warner for 4, leaving the Proteas reeling at 10-2 after three overs.

However, Duminy and Colin Ingram (33 from 28 balls) steadied the ship with a 58-run partnership.

Duminy and David Miller (20 off 19 deliveries) built up good momentum in a 65-run partnership before the South Africans lost the initiative, losing four wickets in the last two overs to reach 146 - probably 10 or 15 runs short of their intended target.
