Domingo encouraged by hit-out

Johannesburg - The three-day warm-up match between the Proteas and the Rest of South Africa XI ended in a tame draw at the Wanderers on Thursday.

Proteas coach, Russell Domingo, is satisfied with the outcome of the match and says his squad achieved more than they expected from the three-day exercise.

The highlight of the final day was a century by Faf du Plessis, and AB de Villiers’ first session out in the middle since his hand surgery.

"We are happy with some of the batting obviously," Doming said.

"Faf got a 100, the captain batted for an hour and a half and the lower order which is going to be important against Australia all spent some valuable time out in the middle.

"The bowlers bowled quick and decent spells so I'm very happy with what we have achieved over the last few days."

JP Duminy has been diagnosed with tendonitis in his left wrist.

He will be treated and monitored over the next few days and should resume training with the team on Sunday.

The Proteas will have a two-day break, during which they will visit the Karongwe Nature Reserve near Hoedspruit in Mpumalanga.

The squad and a few members of management will be taken on a Rhino Adventure by SAB and “Rhino in safe hands” Ambassador Mark Boucher, and will resume training on Sunday at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
