Cape Town - Australian opener David Warner has announced his engagement on Twitter - and that his fiancé is pregnant.

Warner confirmed the news on his Twitter page on Monday, writing: Very happy to say that @CandyFalzon is now my fiancé and we are expecting. We are over the moon with the news and extremely excited.

Warner followed up with: Thanks everyone for the lovely comments. We are extremely happy and excited. I think this little one may have some energy haha. @CandyFalzon

Warner's fiancé Candy Falzon describes herself as an "Ironwoman and Manly Surf Life Saver" on her Twitter page.

Warner, who was named man of the series against the Proteas in the recently concluded Test series between the two countries, is part of Australia's T20 squad currently involved in a three-match series, the next match of which is scheduled for Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday (18:00 start).
