Andre Nel found guilty

Johannesburg - Proteas and Highveld Lions fast bowler, Andre Nel appeared before Cricket South Africa (CSA) Disciplinary Commissioner, Adv. Michael Kuper, SC, in Johannesburg on Tuesday, and was found guilty of contravening Clause 1.4 of CSA's Rules and Code of Conduct.

The clause states that: 1.4 PARTICIPANTS shall not use crude or abusive language nor make offensive gestures to any other PARTICIPANT, OFFICIAL or spectator.

The incident took place during the MTN Domestic Championship match between the Cape Cobras and the Highveld Lions played at Boland Park, on January 4 in Paarl, and was reported by umpires, Marais Erasmus and Johan Cloete.

The sentence imposed on Nel is that he is not eligible for selection for the next Standard Bank Pro20 Series match due to be played between the Highveld Lions and the Diamond Eagles on Sunday, January 25.

He will also be ineligible for selection for two further matches whether Pro20 or the balance of the SuperSport Series matches to be played this season in the event of his being found guilty of any similar contravention of the Code in that time.
