Abscess rules Kieswetter out

Sydney - England batsman Craig Kieswetter will miss the Twenty20 series against Australia to undergo minor surgery for an abscess, the team said on Friday.

South African-born Kieswetter will next be available for the England Lions' tour of West Indies from the end of this month, a statement said. Hampshire's Michael Lumb will take his place in the Twenty20 squad.

"It is unfortunate that Craig has been ruled out of the Twenty20 series but... he will have an opportunity to make a full recovery and then continue to push for further international honours when he tours with England Lions later this month," said national selector Geoff Miller.

England, whose Test team sealed the Ashes series 3-1 Friday, will play two Twenty20s against Australia starting next Wednesday in Adelaide, followed by seven one-day internationals.
