A little to late for Wayamba

Delhi - Wayamba Elevens restricted the Victoria Bushrangers to 103 for four and
thereby won the Champions League Twenty20 match at Feroz Shah Kotla on Tuesday by 15 runs, but it was in vain as they were eliminated
from the competition.
Having to restrict Victoria to a mere 84 runs or less to
progress to the League stage, Wayamba did a remarkable job in the
field, bowling with restraint and discipline.
The Australian team were never given any room to manoeuvre and
on 73 for four with only three overs remaining one would have been
forgiven for thinking Wayamba might actually limit their opponents.
But Andrew McDonald (27 not out) took to Kaushal Lokuarachchi
apart in the next over, hitting the legspinner for 18, and dashing any
hopes the Sri Lankan champions might have harboured.
Chanaka Welegedara finished with 2/18 off his four. The rest of
the attack were also miserly with Rangana Herath only conceding ten
runs off his allotment.
Brad Hodge was undefeated on 44.
Earlier, Wayamba collapsed at the hands of Shane Harwood to reach a lowly 118 for nine.
They started off well after winning the toss and, at 85 for one, they must have had visions of posting a competitive target.
Enter the Victoria trio of Harwood, Clint McKay and McDonald,
and within the space of 28 deliveries completely destroyed the Wayamba
batting line-up, taking seven wickets between them for a mere 23 runs.
Harwood was the pick with three wickets for only 14 runs.
