Sold Out (File)

Johannesburg - Tickets for the World Cup semi-finals and final, as well as two of England's first round matches in South Africa, have sold out, FIFA said on Friday.

FIFA said there were no more tickets for England's matches against the United States in Rustenburg on June 12 and Slovenia in Port Elizabeth on June 23.

Tickets for the match between world champions Italy and Paraguay in Cape Town on June 11 and Brazil and Portugal in Durban a fortnight later have also sold out.

The final phase of World Cup tickets sales will open on Tuesday with more than 400,000 seats still available.

Fans have until April 7 to bid for tickets for 53 of the 64 matches at the tournament, which runs from June 11-July 11.

The fourth phase of sales is again to be conducted over the internet, and also for South African residents at bank branches, but this time will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

World soccer's governing body said it had sold 585,175 tickets, some 70 percent to local residents, in its third sales phase, which closed last month and which was drawn on a lottery basis and allocated this week.

I am disappointed as i have applied for 4 matches and got zero the only one scoring is fnb & fifa i.e. interest on the money we have to pay up front. C'mon FIFA & FNB give us a break.

Is there anyone out there who has applied for tickets in phase 2 and were accepted in phase 3? I have yet to meet someone. Why waste peoples time if FIFA has used selection criteria (labelled random but in actual fact is not) There was NO equal chance of receiving tickets in Phase 3.

The final and opening match are going to consist of the same spectators, divided into 2 groups : Sponsor clients/ANC cronies and mostly people who brought 7 match team specific tickets. Think about it – why would FIFA dole out tickets to individuals who are only interested in the one game when they are guaranteed an audience who have all brought 6 additional tickets to lesser matches. If the final is all you applied for, you can forget about it, ‘aint gonna happen and never was.

FIFA and LOC can go to hell, period. Let me bring all of you to the light: Soccer (Run by FIFA of Course), is the biggest form of organised crime in the world. Proof of this: How do you explain both FIFA and CAF having same leadership for such a long time? Anyway back to ticketing, here is the reality: Category four tickets, which are "cheap" were supposed to be reserved and sold to S Africans for R140-00, right? Now, the FIFA guys introduce a completely new method of ticketing to S Africans, that is book in advance via the internet and all those stories. Fair enough, some of us make efforts to oblige, we surf the net and rush to the banks and finally we sit with the reference numbers hoping we've scored some tickets, even though we knew we're going to lose a fortune. Three months after that I recieve an e-mail stating I only get to watch the quarterfinal match at a cost of R1050-00. All these developments has shown one thing, FIFA is greedy and selfish. This is how the whole RANDOM selection happened: FIFA realising there's more money to be made, went through the applications by NATIONALITY, considered the fact that selling the ticket for R140-00 in SA instead of R 850-00 for someone in England will be a loss, a big one for that matter hence deciding to sell majority of those tickets to the foreigners. Go around, and ask how many S Africans got the tickets( Cat 4) and you will realise there's vey few. Few weeks back there were complans that ticket sales, especially for Bafana games were slow but tickets are nowhere to be found. This is very dissapointing but by the looks of things, come June we'll all be glued up to our screens.

Response to "Wanting Tickets". Ticket sales start at 12h00

I have been unsuccesfull for the 3rd time, I have a better chance of getting tickets to Old Trafford than a R140 ticket ... they really are holding out on us poor SA citizens...... Really sad and damn dissapointing :-(

FIFA can su*k it.. I applied for 4 matches in this last phase and got declined for ALL 4!!! I know its random but I also heard that they cordone off most of the good games to corporate sponsor tickets, which are R6,000 at the loew end. So guess I;ll try again this round, and if I'm lucky get to go to Honduras vs Timbuktu... so bleak, FIFA hype it up, ask you to apply, then give you the middle finger....
@still waiting2/8/2010 12:19 PM
They are gaining interest on you money.
Wanting Tickets2/8/2010 8:51 AM
Does anyone know what time the tickets will go on sale on the 9th of Feb?
Still Waiting 22/7/2010 10:03 AM
STILL WAITING!: I have the same problem, mate. I applied via FNB for seven games, including a semi and a final, and as of yet haven't received any notification regarding the outcome. I know a couple of people who have. Come on FNB, buck up on the efficiency here! I'd like to know already, it's been a week!

the qustion is not if they sold out, but is it at a profit. i can assure they not due to the volume of tickets given to sponsors free . as i work for one of the sponsors i can tell u the profit on them is zero. stop the spin and tell the truth poeple are not coming from overseas thre hotels are empty and so are the expensive pricing on the flights. wake up fifa has a 55m euro loss projection already it iwll just get worse. and the nation will pay the price
crazydude2/6/2010 2:19 PM
@Lee Williams, I think that the mistaake is the date. On 11 June Uruguay play France in Cape Town. On 14 June Italy play Paraguay in Cape Town. @Curly, the idea was to spread the tickets over the first 4 phases, with the 5th being all the left overs. Not sure this has happened already.
Simphiwe2/6/2010 1:42 PM
@ Lee Williams Your statement cannot be right. France is NOT in the same group as PARAgual and thus cannot play paraguay in the first round. Instead, URUguay is the country that France will be playing in the first round, as they (Uruguay) are in the same group as France, South Africa and Mexico.
harry2/6/2010 1:10 PM
Bullshit story, FIFA has kept final and semi final tickets for international VIP's and SA govt officials
Vick2/6/2010 12:19 PM
Thank God i got my ticket to the FINAL !!! yeeehhaaa
Lee Williams2/6/2010 11:49 AM
"Tickets for the match between world champions Italy & Paraguay, in Cape Town on June 11..." THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!! France is playing Paraguay.
Curly2/6/2010 9:48 AM
How can semi and final tickets be sold out, how is that fair, I thought they were spreading the tickets across all ticket phases, or else what's the point, they might as well of made OPEN SEASON on all tickets........useless FIFA
nigel2/6/2010 8:33 AM
on Tuesday I will be buying mine, this round will see a huge surge
crazydude2/6/2010 7:58 AM
Well glad to see that sales are going well. Sadly I didn't get all the tickets that I wanted, but with games selling out so quickly that is to be expected. I will be trying in the 4th phase again.
STILL WAITING!2/6/2010 7:55 AM
so FIFA did i get the tickets i applied for for the semi and final?? cos i haven't received any email notification yet?? and the next phase opens this week, so i need to know whether i should try to get other tickets!!!
Soccer Guru2/6/2010 7:27 AM

Najeeb2/5/2010 11:33 PM
