Johann Muller (Gallo)

Johannesburg - Sharks lock Johann Muller has been called up to the Springbok squad on Monday to replace Andries Bekker, who tore cartilage in his knee during Saturday's second Test against the British and Irish Lions at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

Bekker saw orthopeadic specialist Mark Ferguson and will have a scope performed on his knee on Monday evening.

Muller, who last played for the Boks in 2007, was part of the South African Training Squad that faced a Namibian invitation XV in Windhoek last month.

Meanwhile there was positive feedback on the other players who picked up injuries during the series-clinching 28-25 win at the weekend.

Team doctor Craig Roberts confirmed that centre Jean de Villiers and scrumhalf Fourie du Preez saw shoulder specialist Thys de Beer in Pretoria on Monday and have been cleared for selection ahead of the third Test in Johannesburg this Saturday.

Danie Rossouw is being closely monitored and will follow the standard concussion protocol, including neuropsychological assessment, before returning to play.

Muller is better than Matfield abd Bakkies.

You think the injury is related to him getting punched in the gentleman vegetables by the lions?!

Good for you Johan, i hope he gets some game time this weekend. He is very underated, leads by example and is a true ambasodor to the game of rugby.

I STAND TO BE CORRECTED, BEKKER PLAYS NOTHING COMPERED TO MULLER.

Cant SA rugby afford a professional PR guy to handle the press instead of this blundering idiot?

Johann - just check the positions of the ref and his cronies before you do the finger in the ey thing - hahahaha
Bekker's Knee?6/29/2009 4:43 PM
Ok, at least now I know why Sheridan was never cited for a "low" pussy punch. Bekker's balls are so big that when the Pom missed, he could only hit the knee. At least by missing the toolbox, Bekker won't have the same helium pitch in his voice as Divvie. Was quiite worried for a moment.

Come on Johann, you have job to do and we the public expect you to do it.
Jono6/29/2009 4:27 PM
Good choice. We need an enforcer to replace one.

Shame for Bekker but GREAT for Muller. He is a fab player and does deserve this call up - you go Johann, give them welly on Saturday!
