Cape Town - PUMA has signed a long-term full technical contract with big-hitting Proteas all-rounder Albie Morkel who will now hit sixes with a PUMA bat in hand. The deal runs from July 1, 2009.
Morkel, one of world cricket’s most exciting talents, will take the field in PUMA footwear and full protection gear, as well as wear PUMA sportlifestyle ranges off the pitch.
PUMA now has both Morkel brothers on long-term full technical contracts, having signed a similar deal with Morne Morkel in December 2008.
The Morkel brothers, who bowl right-handed, but bat left-handed, are part of a growing list of Proteas who are part of the PUMA fold including Herschelle Gibbs, Makhaya Ntini, Ashwell Prince, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Robin Peterson and Neil McKenzie.
“We are extremely proud to welcome Albie to the PUMA family. His exceptional performances over the past seasons have certainly drawn our attention and we are excited to have him endorsed by PUMA. Albie will promote the Iridium cricket line,” says Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director PUMA South Africa.
